The 5th Annual Walk of Grace will be held in downtown Jackson on Sunday, November 29, 2009, to raise money for Grace House, Mississippi’s first HIV/AIDS transitional living facility located in Jackson, MS.
The Walk of Grace Committee is actively seeking sponsors for this year’s Walk! Sponsorship levels start at $100 which includes prominent placement of your logo on all our posters, a $500 level that includes your logo on our posters and on the back of the official Walk of Grace 2007 t-shirt plus space for your company booth the day of the event, and $750 sponsorship includes your logo on the poster, the t-shirt, booth space the day of the event, and logo placement in our advertising in local media such as The Clarion-Ledger - which is quiet a deal!
“Grace House is striving to become a community resource for the entire HIV/AIDS community and focus on prevention efforts for the entire metro Jackson area. This walk allows us to expand our services and supplement general operational costs at the facility,” said Trey Mangum, Executive Director of Grace House.
The 3-mile walk begins at 2:00 pm at Smith Park (with registration beginning at 1:00 pm) and winds through downtown Jackson, giving participants a scenic look at some of the town’s most prominent sites and historical buildings, such as the Capitol and the Farish Street Entertainment District. Each participant is asked to raise funds through pledges with those raising $50 in pledges receiving a free Walk of Grace t-shirt!
In addition, the walk serves as a memorial to those we have lost to HIV/AIDS and supports those who currently live with the virus. Participants are given an opportunity to write initials, names or other identifying information on red and white balloons to carry with them via ribbons on the walk route. The Walk also focuses on HIV/AIDS education and prevention and offers free rapid (20-minute) HIV antibodies testing.
